Frequently Asked Questions About Saugeen Agri Services
Saugeen Agri Service Ltd. works with farmers, municipalities, and commercial operations across southwestern Ontario to provide nutrient management, biosolids hauling, and soil-focused agricultural services. Below are answers to common questions about our services, materials, and operations.
General Services
Yes. We work with:
- Farmers seeking nutrient management and soil improvement
- Municipal wastewater treatment facilities requiring biosolids hauling and land application coordination
Saugeen Agri provides:
- Biosolids trucking and application
- Tank spreading of liquid manure and biosolids
- Custom manure blending
- Soil sampling services and interpretation support
- Nutrient planning guidance
- Transportation and spreading logistics
- Agricultural hauling with live bottom trailers and tanker systems
Our focus is on practical, field-ready nutrient management solutions.
We serve farms and municipal partners throughout southwestern Ontario. Service availability depends on project scope, field access, and scheduling.
Yes. Our operations are conducted in compliance with applicable regulations. We maintain documentation and load tracking from generator to receiver to ensure transparency and accountability.
We use sealed, odour-controlled trucking equipment and coordinate scheduling to minimize impacts on nearby roads, farms, and communities. Application methods such as injection also reduce surface exposure where appropriate.
We provide:
- Hauling and field application services
- Hauling to approved off-site storage locations
Application timing depends on field conditions and operational planning.
We haul municipal wastewater treatment plant biosolids. These are treated materials suitable for agricultural reuse when managed responsibly.
Yes. Depending on crop type and field conditions, tank spreading can be completed on standing grass or residue-covered fields.
We apply both:
- Liquid manure
- Municipal biosolids
Application method depends on field conditions and crop stage.
Injectors are used most of the time (around 98%) for applying liquid manure and biosolids. This method places nutrients below the soil surface, enhancing nutrient availability, reducing odour, and minimizing surface runoff.
Splash plates are used in specific situations, usually when fields are very rocky or when working on new farms with lots of surface residue or debris that makes injection difficult.
We follow strict loading procedures, capacity planning, route selection, and equipment maintenance protocols to ensure safe and efficient operations.
When applied properly, biosolids and manure add organic matter and nutrients that can improve soil structure, microbial activity, and long-term productivity.
Our services help:
- Recycle nutrients back into agricultural land
- Reduce reliance on synthetic fertilizers
- Improve soil structure and biological activity
- Support responsible nutrient reuse
Equipment & Logistics

Custom blends can:
- Improve nutrient balance
- Enhance soil organic matter
- Increase nutrient efficiency
- Support stronger crop growth
- Improve long-term soil structure
Custom blending involves combining manure from multiple sources to create a nutrient mix tailored to a farm’s soil and crop needs. This allows for a more balanced nutrient profile compared to single-source materials.
Soil sampling helps:
- Identify nutrient deficiencies and imbalances
- Optimize fertilizer application rates
- Improve crop yields
- Support long-term soil health
- Reduce unnecessary input costs
Yes. We both:
- Collect soil samples in the field when requested
- Assist with reviewing and interpreting soil test results
We provide nutrient planning guidance and support, helping farmers interpret soil tests and align nutrient strategies with crop needs. We prepare NASM plans when required but do not create full nutrient management plans outside that scope.
Scheduling depends on season, weather conditions, and field readiness. We recommend contacting us early in the planning process to ensure availability.
You can contact us directly through our website or call our office to discuss your needs. We’ll review your project and determine the best approach based on your fields, materials, and timing.
